Sabotage

Right when you think you have a good plan.........

So.  I've been  trying to figure out how to make this weekend happen to my liking, but no matter how I slice it the road ride from Moab to Fruita on an MTB w/knobbies is so unnatractive.  Then crackhead Lynda this am was bubbling with inspiration:  why not do an out and back of the Koko?

Well, why not?  There are good reasons to do it:

- shakedown for GLR
- the weekend is clear
- it appeals to the manic in me
- weather looks great, albeit a bit warm
- if things go awry, bailouts abound

The challenges:

- there are zero restocking options on the route
- is it reasonable to think one can do ~ 4300 TSS in 16 days and come out of that stronger, not wasted???
- I don't think I could (or really want to) do it without a sleep break.  More gear required = slower climbing.
- The Yeti is in St George getting gussied up, it'll have to be on the Fuel.

Sure seems like a great idea to me.  Intimidating, and I've been cheated out of the anticipation...but not the journey.

Thanks so much Lynda.  I think ;)

I hear you. Knobbies on the road are fine...for about an hour or two. :) You are going to know every pebble on the Shandy climb by the end of the weekend.
Start in Fruita, ride to Moab, motel, sleep, restock, and ride back to Fruita. I can't imagine doing it myslef but you sir, are a certifiable crackhead and need therapy.

You haven't been cheated out of the anticipation at all - it's just been compressed into a much shorter period of time.

Feelin' it?

Forget the freakin' road; the horror, the horror!!! Lynda is so right on.

Jen and I will be out there tomorrow (Fri.) starting at midnight in Loma. We're just doing a 100 miler though; 50 out, 50 back w/ real singletrack thrown in on the way back to Loma.

Maybe we'll see you?

I was thinking about riding Dewey to Moab on Saturday. Depending on when you're coming through, maybe I'll see you out there. It would be nice to ride together for a while if it worked out. My van will be parked at Dewey. If you want me to stock it with some water, or anything, let me know. I can give you a firm time it would be there, and where it would be. Good luck with a big ride,

I wanna be out there this weekend. I could ride Dewey to Moab every week and not tire of it.

Dave you are making a lot of sense these days. Good luck in the journey.
